Infrastructure

The infrastructure required for economic growth includes not only the necessary transport and communications provision, but also appropriate employment and housing sites and mechanisms to encourage public and private investment.

An effective planning and transport system is fundamental to a successful regional economy. Businesses and people need good access both within the Northwest and to other parts of the UK, the rest of Europe and the world, by land, sea and air.

Similarly, housing policy needs to support economic growth priorities across the region.

To support productivity growth, it is vital that the region has a strong offering of employment sites. The region’s portfolio of strategic regional sites and commercial property aims to secure the growth of knowledge-based industry, inward investment and logistics across the region.

The NWDA is also working to improve the local environment through land regeneration, creating quality public spaces and amenities that local communities and visitors can enjoy, complementing ongoing regeneration activity and projecting a positive image for potential investors.
