Areas of Work

The work the NWDA does is led by the Regional Economic Strategy. This Strategy was developed on the basis of Government policy and a regional evidence base.

The Strategy is split into five main sections: Business, Skills & Education, People & Jobs, Infrastructure and Quality of Life. Sustainable Development, is a cross-cutting theme which is an important element of all five sections of the Strategy.

The NWDA delivers the Strategy alongside a number of partner organisations. These partner organisations are responsible for delivering other parts of the Strategy.

Our Corporate Plan provides full details of how we have allocated our budget to deliver the objectives set out in the Strategy. We are funded through a Government Single Budget for Regional Development Agencies.

In addition to Government funding, the NWDA manages the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and the Rural Development Programme for England (RDPE) in the Northwest.
